I've never been to Tonga, but from the pictures I've seen it looks fabulous. Sometimes I get fearful about sharks in the water when I'm swimming. The best thing for me to do is not to think about them.
One time I was snorkelling in Australia, it was my first time and I found myself on my own. I became quite scared and tired. I tried to climb on the rocks to have a rest but I cut my feet on the coral. Fortunately, the runabout dingy from the yacht came and picked me up. I was relieved to be out of the water.
I later learned that one of the divers had seen a shark near where I had been swimming. I always wondered if it had noticed how scared I was.

Has anything like that ever happened to you?
